Try to understand Romania before visiting it

Whether you are for the first time in Romania, or the tenth, you are simply supposed to take a few time to understand thoroughly the country forehand.
Romania is not at all exclusively a Dracula land, but an interesting culture destination

And you must do that because Romania is not only the land of Dracula or the land of Ceausescu. We have an interesting history, and during the Middle Age there were three Romanian principates, namely Moldavia, Vallachia and Transilvania, which have been influenced by the neighboring empires, respectively Russian, Othoman and Austrian. It took a few centuries to understand the simple fact of our unity, and afterwards to realise this unity through successive and successfully unifications. Most of our heroes fought bravely for Unification, against the overmentioned Empires. In every Romanian city there is one street or square reffering to the Unification (Piata Unirii, or Bulevardul Unirii). During the XIXth century France was a model for all Europe, including Romania. Our language is anyway a Romanic one, and the culture is very close to the French culture.
Nicolae Ceausescu and his wife have ruled Romania in a dictatorial way for 24 years. We could barely stand and survive, due to our sense of humor

We are proud of our past and history, and not so proud anymore about our political class of today, which is not patriot enough. On the contrary, they are corrupted enough, it is a national disease, despite all the progress in fighting it of the last years. But these are our problems, you must know them and be aware of them, but never try to mix in any political discussion. It simply makes no sense, and brings no friends. You must have your own problems in your country for sure, as every country has!
Calea Victoriei, the most interesting and beautiful street of Bucharest, has undoubtly a French charm

Also very important, the country is not very expensive, unless you make special choices. One beer in a pub costs between 2 and 4 euros, with 5 euros you can have a satisfactory lunch. Romania is also not very rich yet, the average income is about 500 Euros netto monthly. And that is why you must avoid the touristic destinations, they are much more expensive than the popular ones. If you have a good travel guide, you can easily find the second ones!
Please avoid in Romania the beaten paths, and you can see these wonderful suits on the streets

We are people with a sharp developped sense of humor, and this was really useful during bad and hard times, e.g. the communist Ceausescu era! Otherwise we couldn't stand and survive it, it was terrible: no food, no fun, but only a lot of jokes, most of them refering to Ceausescu and his wife. Some of us are simply missing those times, as we can't hear so many fabulous jokes.

Understanding yourself, understanding the world, understanding Romania

Hard to live on Earth these days, we must face strong emotions almost daily due to the suicide   attacks
.It was one in Paris, and therefore the tourists don't go any more so enthuthiasthic in the city of lights. But imagine a couple of lovers, dreaming to climb during their honeymoon on the Tour Eiffel in Paris, and tell me please how could they replace it?
I hope that Romania will remain an oasis of peace, despite the terroristic threats in a global world

Besides the yesterday attack from Istanbul will affect even worse the travel industry. The victims are all Germans, the target was a group of Germans (Why Germans? Poor people were not guilty for any political decisions!). As a professional of the travel industry, I wonder about the travel guide, if he is still alive (with your permission, I am a travel guide btw). Maybe a foolish egoistic question, perhaps I should apologize. Since yesterday the tourists retire from Istanbul, and no one books that destination any longer.
The castle Peles in the Carpathians is an architectural pearl and a place of peace for sure

Egypt, Tunisia, Mali, are to avoid due to the former or possible future attacks, Germany seems also to be dangerous, in Madrid we had train attacks a few years ago (but I will personally nevertheless visit Germany and Madrid soon with any risks). Is there still a safe destination anywhere on this shrinking world? Maybe a deserted island, maybe a remote chalet in the mountains, etc,  name please yourself one of it.
In Romania you can still hear the flowing water and forget any bad thought

As a travel guide in Romania, I wonder how long could Romania still remain an oasis of silence in this global world. We are a medium sized (20 Millions) pacific people, not very rich, but very proud. We wait gladly our guests and receive them like royals (Prince Charles of Britain has one property in Romania). Not many refugees would deliberately choice Romania as target, and also seems not to be an attractive target for terrorists. I hope it will remain so for longtime, but who knows? Romania is normally a very safe country, since 4 years by my groups has been registered only 2 incidents with beggars.
Danube Delta is a must see during a Romanian trip, but we have many other highlights

But there are risk anywhere. Despite those risks we should rule a normal life further. I will visit soon Berlin and Madrid, and hope that nothing bad happens. I also hope that my tourists will further come to the quiet Romania (half of the Romanians live to the countryside, and there is no risk there. But Bucharest is one of the biggest cities of the European Union, and nevertheless a quiet city with a low criminality and no terroristic threat.)

A folkloric show is rural, archaic and genuine

I have all the compassion for the victims and their families, but I am going visit Madrid and Berlin. Do the same, visit Romania and rule a normal life.

Romania for firsttimers

Dear people wishing to visit Romania for the first time, I must warn you. It won't be the last, most of the people react in this way, due to the beauties of this legendary country.

First of all you are going to love the people. They are normal, lovely, always ready to help, have a fantastic sense of humor and very happy to receive you as a guest of honor. If you reach the deep, legendary and eternal Romania at the countryside everyone there will try to invite you to the dinner. It is really amazing this joy of life coming from inside; unfortunately under these circumstances you are going to hurt some people, refusing their invitations!
In Bucharest you can discover some pearls of architecture, here is one of the city's oldest and most beautiful fountains: Cantacuzino

There is almost no possibility to stay on a diet in this blessed country. Everything begins with the tomatoes, they taste and flavors totally different with what you are eating normally, we still don't use so much chemicals in our agriculture. And our kitchen relies mostly on tomatoes, many of our favorite dishes contains tomatoes, we simply love this taste. Further you should also know that we eat a lot of bread, we are simply champions world wide at this chapter. But please don't worry, no one will try to push or force you to addiction on these bad habits we might have. On the contrary, we, the proud Romanians, are ones of the most tolerant people on the Earth.
Bucharest never forgets to be the Capital of a rural land: The Museum of The Romanian peasant is one of the most interesting and exciting of the all Romania

And this tolerance has been more times shown and proofed during our millenial long history. Reffering to the very present days I could say that we have a strong Hungarian minority, which is very respected and beloved, you can visit it right in the middle of Romania, with their special gastronomy. We also have a small shrunken German community, but from this community we elected our next President, namely Klaus Iohannis. I hope to have you convinced, don't need to talk more about it. Sometimes the Romanians like to much to talk and chat, we are very closed to the Meridionals due to our Latin origin.
90 % of the Romanian population are Orthodoxe, and visiting an Orthodoxe church is a must do

Coming back to the Romanian gastronomy, you are going to observe and even taste the different influences exerted to us. On one side the Balkanic and Turkish influence (moussaka, baclava etc. for the fine tasters). On other side the Western influence and the international cuisine. You won't starve in Romania for sure, whether if you are a vegan, vegetarian or eat everything. And again I won't say more, allowing you to discover by yourself the gastronomic Romania, as it is almost noon! Nevertheless, a short mention about Romanian wines, which are simply fantastic.
The painted churches of Bucovina are one of the highlights in Romania, I am sure you are going to love them (here is the church of Voronet, actually the most picturesque and beautiful)

You are going to find a lot of things to do in Romania, whether you travel solo or with your family. In Bucharest and other major cities we have good theaters and interesting Christmas markets, as also interesting museums or leading hotels and restaurants. We also have a natural genuine Romania, with a few highlight like Danube Delta, The Carpathians with their paths and forests. Even the Romanian hills and plains are picturesque and interesting.

I hope to have been enough convincing, you can book right now over one of the most renowned travel agency in Romania. I am going to be proud and delighted to be your travel guide here.

Romania in a few words and days

Well, I must confess it is a tricky dirty job for me this one, introducing to you Romania briefly and shortly. Sometimes happens to me that even after one or two week of my beloved Romanian tours I have the feeling that I forget some things and could tell the story further for a another week at least. Nevertheless, my esteemed tourists must go back to work, to their families or to discover other destinations in this world of us.
In the Romanian towns and villages you can still discover children proudly wearing the national suits. This is the real eternal Romania

So, I must concentrate my knowledge in a few words, and I am almost sure to be able filling this task, as I know and love a lot this fabulous country. It is a medium country, neither impressive big, nor neglecting small with a surface of 237 000 sqkm and 21 millions people proudly calling it home. It is an European country with a huge potential for the future, having as its most important asset the people. They are normal, simply and unsophisticated, friendly and loyal, knowing to use the favorable opportunities when they arose throughout the long Romanian history. The Romanians are also smart, educated, with a mature thinking and able to make the best decisions (the choice of Klaus Iohannis as the President of Romania is a testimony of a fantastic political corectness. Allow me to remember, that Klaus Iohanis is a Romanian German attending the Evangelic church, totally different to the majority of the Romanian population).
Wonderful urban life in Targu Mures, Romania

There are a lot of wonderful hotels all over in Romania, waiting and welcoming you. Bigger or smaller, luxury or familiar, from one star hostels to stylish five stars hotels, we have everything necessary for your short visit (one week-end or one week e.g.). If permitted, I would recommend for such a short stay a travel guide, and this little thing would help to find the hidden places of Romania at a good report between quality and price. Please don't ask further if I know a good travel guide, I won't say a word anymore.
Horse driven cars are still largely used in the Romanian agriculture

Visit in Romania the wonderful city of Bucharest, our Capital, the sixth biggest city of the European Union. It has charm and personality, despite the huge ravages caused by ceausescu and the communist regime to the downtown. Enjoy the Orthodox churches, the nice wide boulevards, the city's parks and fountains. You can discover further urban culture in other big cities of Romania like Iasi, Cluj napoca, Timisoara, Craiova, Constanta, Sibiu, Brasov to name only a few, the essential ones. And afterwards try to discover and understand the eternal everlasting Romania, which is possible only to the countryside. If you are a fine versant maven you will know what I mean. I am sure you will understand this deep Romanian soul, even if I don't tell you prior all the stories about the national history I know.

In this modern global world allow yourself a few days for Romania, you deserved it. I will convince you to fall in love with it, give it a try.
